Street Prize
Minted In Manchester
One merry Manchester winner is celebrating this week after winning £30,000 thanks to her lucky postcode, M14 6FD.
Christine Whyatt couldn't believe it when she was surprised by Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt, who presented her with her cheque. "It's wonderful," she said.
Christine, who works as a PA, has several plans for her winnings. "We're actually just home from Australia where my son and his fiancée have had a new baby," she said. "We didn't think we would be able to go back so soon but now we can go next year for sure. We also want to give them something for their upcoming wedding."
Mum-of-three Christine has a lot of family to treat with her winnings. "I have two other sons who will benefit, as well as three grandchildren. It would be lovely to do something all together when my son and his family are home from Australia."
"My husband Peter and I might also go on a long weekend to London or I might go on a spa day. It's nice to do something a bit special."
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "I loved meeting Christine today and finding out how she's going to spend her winnings. I hope she has a fantastic time visiting her son again next year!"
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities, and players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £190 Million to date for more than 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
Local charities also benefit from player funding. Gorton Horticulture Society, based near Manchester, received £2,000 from players last year for The Wildflower Orchard.
There were big celebrations elsewhere this weekend - in Glapwell, S44 5NB was drawn as the winner of the Sunday Street Prize, and over 700 lucky winners shared a whopping £3 Million in Kirkcaldy.
