Street Prize
Win Fit For Kingswinford
Ten neighbours in Kingswinford are celebrating after winning Sunday's Street Prize.
The Earlswood Road residents in the lucky postcode, DY6 7DX, have scooped a fabulous £30,000 each.
Winner Elizabeth was joined by her husband Graham when she was handed her cheque, and said, "I'm speechless – this is just so much more than I could ever have hoped for! This has been a difficult week as my sister-in-law passed away and Graham has been in hospital, so this definitely gives us both a reason to smile.
"We're celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary this year, so now we'll be able to do something extra special to mark the occasion!"
Pauline was flabbergasted when she received her cheque. She said, "No way – these things always happen to other people, not me! It was my birthday on Saturday so this gives me another reason to celebrate!
"I love knowing that the money I give to play really matters because I'm helping to support so many charities, including local ones!"
Sheila, who was with her son Gary, said, "This feels fantastic - I love the fact that so many other people on the street have won with me! Gary is my carer so this will make a massive difference to us both."
Simon had raced home from a work course to collect his cheque with wife Lynne. He said, "We'll be able to pay off our holiday to Majorca now and we might even book another one too! Everyone I know will be signing up to play when they see the size of this cheque!"
Sandra was joined by her husband Bob, and was shaking when she learned how much she had picked up thanks to her lucky postcode: "I just can't believe this – my heart is racing! I have four kids and nine grandkids so they will definitely be getting spoiled!"
Winifred was shocked when she discovered how much she had won, but had a few ideas on how she would spend the windfall. She said, "I'm going to take my husband, Ken, on a cruise to France and I’ll be treating my two daughters and my granddaughter too!"
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson handed the winners their cheques, and said, "Congratulations Kingswinford! I love seeing so many neighbours win together and I'm sure they'll all have a great time spending their prize."
It's not only players who win with People's Postcode Lottery, as 32% of the ticket price goes to charities. To date, an amazing £291 Million has been raised for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
One nearby charity that players have helped support is Dudley Mind. The group was awarded £17,350 last year to offer activities, such as music classes and creative writing sessions, for socially isolated people experiencing mental health problems.
