Postcode Millions
An Amazing Sum For Altrincham
A MUM diagnosed with breast cancer told us of her joy at winning a share of a £3.2 Million prize in the venue where she celebrated her wedding.
Brave Victoria - supported by husband Michael - was determined to find out exactly how much she'd won, despite still undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
And after picking up a cheque for £9,211, delighted Victoria, of Altrincham, Greater Manchester, said, "This is fantastic, lovely - something good for a change."
Marvellous Mum
Wealth management firm employee Victoria joined 223 other winners who live in the wider postcode area of WA15 9 to pick up cheques ranging from £9,211 to £27,633 in our monthly Postcode Millions on Friday night – and formally announced today.
Two other players living in the full winning postcode of WA15 9DZ each banked £407,032.
Bubbly mum-of-two Victoria was diagnosed with cancer last October and has had 13 treatments in a 16-round course of chemotherapy before having to undergo surgery.
But she was delighted to attend our cheque-reveal event in The Bowdon Rooms, in Altrincham, where she and Michael held their wedding reception 14 years ago.
And they'll use their winnings to turbo-charge an Easter family holiday to Vale do Lobo in Portugal's Algarve as she recovers from treatment.
She said, "It feels good being back here and seeing it again. We got married in the church just round the corner.
"This will go to the holiday fund. We're going to Portugal. After all the chemo, I needed a break."
Hubby Michael, who works in commercial property finance, added, "We're happy to be here. Anything is just a massive Brucie bonus."
That's My Joy!
An overjoyed mother and son celebrated boosting their family fortune after they each won £9,211.
Primary school teacher Jon bagged the prize just three months after signing up to play. He was joined by his retired mum Sandra, who has been playing for a decade.
Now Jon is planning a trip to Disneyland Paris with his three kids - and Sandra will share her windfall with hubby Gregory and daughter Kate.
Jon said, "This is amazing winning together. I'm buzzing. I would have been happy with £5,000. I'll be going on a lovely holiday with the kids. I'll bet they're already spending it on sweets!"
Mum-of-two Sandra said, "I always said that if I ever won anything I'd share it with the family."
She added, "It's our 45th wedding anniversary on April 7. We'll have a good celebration."
Twin The Money
Another winner, Sonia, told us how she'll plough most of her prize into two local charities - as well as helping identical twin sister Sharon, an NHS HR administrator.
Mum-of-one Sonia said youth charity Manchester's Got Talent and food bank Keeping It Real 24/7 will get the bulk of her £9,211 windfall.
The office manager and bookkeeper said, "I'm very grateful for this. I'll give my sister something. But my main aim is to help the children of tomorrow."
The Best Thing Ever
An excited Sacha leapt into hubby Colin's arms when his double ticket landed them £18,422.
The couple, who wed in The Bowdon Rooms in 2007, had only been expecting to win a maximum of £10,000, but now plan to go on holiday and treat their three children.
Sacha said, "We didn't expect it. We thought we'd won five grand, ten grand tops. Absolutely can't believe it - just like the best thing ever!"
Colin added, "I buy two tickets. It makes sense, doesn't it now? Nobody believed me for years that I was buying two tickets and I just thought, 'There you go, it proves it'. Amazing."
Threesy Does It
Mum-of-two Aimee and hubby John were thrilled when her winning cheque of £9,211 was revealed.
She said, "Our daughter's about to finish her GCSEs so we're trying to mark it with something special."
The couple have a holiday to Zante coming up, but Aimee added, "We might go to Dubai or even Lapland for Christmas."
The family's recently retired neighbour Claudette, who lives in the same street, also won £9,211.
She said, "I think I'm going to probably treat the children. I've got two children and two grandchildren."
The former NHS nurse and senior manager is going to Vietnam for two weeks, taking her two grandchildren for Easter.
Claudette, who retired after 42 years, said, "I'm actually off on holiday tomorrow so that might just be a little spending money!"
She added, "My son-in-law worked out there for a little while and has talked about it."
Twice As Nice
Lisa said it would be a straight toss-up between two holiday destinations to celebrate her youngest daughter Molly's 21st - depending on her prize.
Before picking up £9,211, the mum-of-two said, "I told her, 'Right, we'll have a really nice holiday if this is a good one'. Tenerife maybe or, if I win lots, maybe go to Barbados.
"Depending on how much, I might take her sister as well."
Then, after seeing her cheque, the doctors' surgery worker said, "It could be Barbados now. It's twice as much as I thought I'd get."
She added, "I won £1,000 just before Christmas two years ago, which was ideal. I tell everyone to join the Postcode Lottery. I'll be doing it even more now."
Much Greater Manchester
This bumper Postcode Millions win was announced on the same day as 10 players shared a £1 Million prize seven away in Heald Green, Greater Manchester. Neighbours on Greenhythe Road bagged our weekly Millionaire Street prize with their winning postcode of SK8 3NS.
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "This was a golden weekend for Greater Manchester with two big wins just seven miles apart.
"They might have to name it Much Greater Manchester now!"
