Street Prize
Welcome Win For Whitstable
A Whitstable shopkeeper, who retired less than a month ago, has scooped an incredible £25,000 today.
Sheila Smith, from Honey Hill, won the five-figured cash prize when her postcode, CT5 3BP, was drawn as a winner in one of this weekend's Saturday Street Prizes.
Sheila and her husband Colin recently bought a campervan to go travelling in, and now they can pay it off.
She said, "When we retired at the end of June, we decided to buy the campervan so that we could visit our grandson in Portsmouth anytime we want.
"It feels wonderful to win People's Postcode Lottery and it's such a lovely amount of money. We can really enjoy our retirement now and go off and visit all the places around England we want to see.
"This couldn't have come at a better time. After 26 years of running the stationary shop, it's time for me and Colin to enjoy ourselves."
Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier congratulated Sheila and Colin. "I hope Sheila and Colin have some great adventures in their campervan. What lovely winners, and it's thanks to players like them that £129 Million has been raised for good causes around the country."
A charity near Whitstable that received funding from players this year is Canal & River Trust, which was granted a £500,000 Dream Fund award. This was to deliver a programme of major restoration with Help for Heroes, rebuilding the lives of retired military veterans.
Also this weekend, we had the Postcode Millions land in Mansfield, another Saturday Street Prize was scooped in Nercwys, the Dream Holidays were won in Barnet and Meltham got lucky with £5,000 and BMW prizes.
