Lady Luck In Liverpool

Six Liverpool neighbours have topped off 2021 in style after scooping £30,000 each playing People's Postcode Lottery. The Merseyside postcode, L27 5RW, was today announced as a winner of our £30,000 Street Prize.

These prizes are part of our special #30KADAY celebrations in which one postcode is revealed as a winner every day in December's draws, and every ticket in that postcode picks up a whopping £30,000.

Dream Destination

Among our winners was June, who was shocked when Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson knocked on her door to surprise her with a £30,000 cheque. She exclaimed, "Oh my God! Oh my God! My family are going to be delighted."

"After all this horrible time we've all had, something good has come out of it."

June was joined by her husband Richard and the couple had lots of ideas for their windfall. She said, "I'm going to help my family out and get some things done to the house to make ourselves nice and comfy." Richard added, "They'll all share something and can have a great Christmas as a result."

The couple have lived in the same house since 1970 and celebrated their golden wedding earlier this year. June said, "We celebrated our anniversary and my 70th birthday but we couldn't do anything because of lockdown. So, a holiday would be a really nice way to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary."

The delighted pair had a dream destination in mind. June said, "We were thinking Croatia, we've never been there and fancy that for sure." Richard added, "It gives you a great buzz, we're pensioners now and we're retired so it's absolutely brilliant."

June also plans to spend the cash on some home improvements. Richard said, "She's wanted stairs put in up to the loft and a new three-piece suite, so that's now on the cards."

A Christmas Miracle

James was another delighted winner. He clenched his fists in celebration after Danyl revealed his cheque and gave his wife Sandra a big hug. James said, "A miracle has just happened at the best time of the year, Christmas. I should have retired by now. So, that's my retirement."

The couple are hoping to jet off in 2022. James said, "We can treat ourselves to a little holiday when COVID lifts. Somewhere exotic, anywhere that's hot and sunny with a nice beach." Sandra added, "James said Thailand if we ever got the opportunity to go, so possibly Thailand."

They also intend treating their children with their prize money. Sandra said, "Once we let the kids know, I'm sure the youngest one will have their eyes on a few things." She then joked, "The hand will be out. I think an Apple Watch was on the list."

James was delighted to hear that five of their neighbours had also won £30,000 each. He said, "It's just brilliant to think that there are others on the street who are winning, it'll make their Christmases and New Year as well."

Danyl Johnson visited Scafell Walk to hand out the winning cheques. He said, "I'm over the moon for our six lucky players in Liverpool. What an incredible way to kick off the New Year celebrations! A massive congratulations to each of the winners, I hope they have fun spending their prize winnings in 2022."

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Animal Trust. This trust has a mission to educate, support and promote animal welfare and conservation. Supported charities include Dogs Trust, Riding for the Disabled Association and PDSA.
