Success For Stoke-on-Trent
It's a spectacular Sunday for nine lucky players who have each scooped a whopping £30,000 cheque. The windfall came for the Stoke-on-Trent neighbours after their postcode, ST1 2LT, was drawn as a winner of today's Street Prize.
Our winners found out how much they'd won during video calls with Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson.
New Home
Lucie, a travel agent, was at work when Danyl called, and there were screams all around the office when he revealed her £30,000 cheque. Lucie exclaimed, "That's a lot of money! Oh my God, £30,000! Have you definitely got the right person?!
"My heart feels like it's beating out of my chest."
Lucie plans to use the money to buy a house, and also splash out on a holiday. She said, "It's going to go on a deposit on a house as we rent at the moment. I've been married for six years and we've rented the whole time. We'll probably go somewhere nice on holiday too. I'm not to sure where yet, it depends where we're allowed to go!"
Lucie added, "I can't wait to tell my husband. He works away so I'll need to wait until he's on a break and call him. He won't believe me! Things like this just don't happen to me... ever!"
Good Timing
Mum-of-two Alex was another excited winner. With a young baby and a two-year-old, the win has come at a great time for her. She said, "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm overwhelmed, I don't know what to say. I've never won anything.
"I've just moved so I need do some house improvements. I'm also on maternity leave so I'll be buying some baby stuff. George is only seven months old, he's teething just now."
Alex has been playing People's Postcode Lottery for four years, but has only played at her current address for a month. She said, "I can't believe it! It doesn't feel real. I still don't believe it talking to you."
Family Treat
Delivery driver John pulled over in his van to take the video call from Danyl. When he saw the cheque, he said, "No! No way! That is fantastic. That has just sorted my life out. I was going to be happy with a couple of quid! This is going to make everyone a lot happier in my postcode."
Hardworking John will use the cash to treat his wife and son, as well as make the most of his holiday next year. He said, "I'm working so many hours at the moment so I can start relaxing now. It's just eased my mind.
"I'm going to buy my missus a new car. She has an old battered car at the moment. She will want a shopping trip, too! I think I'll help my son pay his car off. I'm off to Florida next year as well, so this is just brilliant. I needed spending money so that's that covered."
When asked how he would be celebrating, John said, "My son is coming round tonight so I might have a couple of drinks, but can't have too many as I need to drive tomorrow!"
Speechless
Jenna, an office worker, was shocked when she found out how much she had won. She exclaimed, "Oh my God! That's amazing. I'm speechless. It doesn't feel real. I never thought my postcode would come up!"
Jenna wants to use the money to help her family move to a new house. However, she thinks her daughter will have a different idea. She said, "The plan was in the next 12 to 18 months that we'd look at moving so this might bring it forward. My seven-year-old daughter will have other plans, though. She has just started riding lessons so a pony will be on her agenda!"
Danyl Johnson said, "Wow, what a great bunch of winners! It was great to chat to so many of them and find out how they will be treating themselves with an extra £30,000. A huge congratulations to all of them."
