Happiness In Hengoed

Six neighbours in Hengoed are celebrating this weekend after their postcode CF82 7LU was announced as a winner in today's Street Prize. Five of the neighbours scooped £30,000 each, while one lucky player took home £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

A Wonderful Day

Double ticket holder Teresa was left teary-eyed when she learned of her £60,000 win during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson. Seeing her prize, Teresa gasped and said, "Oh my gosh!

"I'm crying! That is lovely. It’s more than fantastic, it's wonderful! What a wonderful day today. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much!"

Teresa, a local councillor, was thrilled to be winning with some of her neighbours. She said, "My neighbours are lovely, I'm so pleased! That is wonderful that they shared in all this happiness as well."

"I wonder if we could have a street party, socially distanced!"

When asked how she would spend her winnings, Teresa said, "I would like to have a nice holiday, I have to say.

"I have always wanted to go to Toronto and to see Niagara Falls as well, maybe one day I’ll be able to do that!"

Along with treating her son, two daughters and step-daughter, Teresa also wanted some of her winnings go towards helping a good cause. She said, "I’m involved with FareShare and they are going to have a donation from me as well as they are a lovely charity."

But her immediate plans were to celebrate at home. "We’ll have an Indian takeaway and a rum and coke as well!"

Matt Johnson sent his warm congratulations to the winners. He said, "I grew up just down the road from Hengoed and I know it's a lovely place with wonderful people, so it was a special pleasure to bring this good news to our winners today.

"Llongyfarchiadau to Teresa and all our other winners in Hengoed!"
