Postcode Millions
Sensational Prizes For Sheffield
AN ASTOUNDED People's Postcode Lottery player has scooped the lion's share of a £3.2 million prize.
The big winner, holding two tickets, bagged £800,000 - while two neighbours also banked £400,000 each in our monthly Postcode Millions draw.
The mystery trio, of Totley, Sheffield, were left stunned when their postcode, S17 4AD, was announced as the winner today.
The £800k winner, who chose to remain anonymous, said: "It's absolutely mental!
"This is completely life-changing. I've never won anything in my life, and I've worked all my life for everything I've got."
They jokingly added: "I'll be getting a call from my bank telling me there is something strange happening to my account."
Now they plan on buying a brand-new car, treating their family, and taking a few dream holidays.
The remaining half of the £3.2m prize was shared between 504 people in the S17 4 postcode sector, which is situated south-west of Sheffield city centre and encompasses the suburbs of Totley and Bradway.
Players landed cash prizes ranging from £2,946 to £8,838, depending on how many tickets they played with.
It's back-to-back lottery successes for Sheffield postcodes after another South Yorkshire area won our signature prize in December. Six weeks ago, 561 Rotherham residents celebrated netting £17.5m - the biggest single prize in our history.
A Totley resident had only signed up to play on Saturday 14 December - the same day as the Rotherham win - and in their first ever draw they landed a whopping return of £8,838, with three tickets.
Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt, who knocked on the £800k winner's front door, said: "A massive congratulations to all of our winners. I'm sure the whole community will be celebrating all weekend long.
"It was a special moment to surprise the biggest winner, and it definitely came as a big shock to them. I hope they have plenty of fun spending their winnings."
Brigantes Music, Sheffield's first professional symphony orchestra, received £23,500 in funding last year. Founded in 2019, its talented musicians live locally or have links to the community. The orchestra helps nurture young musicians and works with local schools, seeking feedback for use in upcoming activities and performances.
