Bumper Prizes For Blackburn Winners

Two neighbours in Blackburn have won £177,209 each with their lucky postcode today! BB2 4UN was revealed as the full winning postcode in April's Postcode Millions draw at a special event at Witton Park in Blackburn.

A total of 429 winners in postcode sector BB2 4 scooped a share of the £3 Million prize pot, with cheques ranging from £1,522 to £177,209.

Sarah Slater scooped an incredible £177,209. She found out she'd won the big prize with her partner Phil Critchey by her side.

Sarah said, "Things like this just don't happen in Blackburn. When BB2 4UN was announced, we burst out crying. It just doesn't feel real. This is a life-changing amount of money for me and my partner Phil.

"We have always wanted to go to Las Vegas and now we can – we might get married while we're there. We can go to the Little White Wedding Chapel, and Phil can have Elvis as his best man. I might even be dressed as Dolly Parton."

Stephen Mason also won £177,209 and celebrated with his partner of 18 years, Michelle Hall.

The couple have two sons and cancelled a camping trip so that they could come to the Postcode Millions.

Stephen, the director of local furniture firm First Choice Fitted Bedrooms, said, "As a family we love going camping, and we've been doing it for fifteen years. We were meant to be in Cumbria this bank holiday weekend with our friends and their families, but winning this amount of money more than makes up for missing out. I can't believe that we'll finally be able to buy a motorhome. Our dream is to travel around Europe with the kids.

"We also want to pay off the mortgage, and we'll be able to pay for our youngest son Jake to attend a good school in Blackburn. Our other son Lukas is heading to University soon, so we'll be able to cover the fees, which is a big help."

A couple who won £6,088 aren't quite over their nerves just yet, as they’ll be getting married in less than 24 hours! John Rutherford and his fiancée Vicky Holding said the last week of wedding planning was even more exciting when they knew they'd be winning with People's Postcode Lottery the day before the wedding.

John Rutherford said he was delighted with the win. "We knew it was going to be a weekend like no other when we got the golden envelope through in the post. I can't believe I've just won over £6,000, and I'm getting to marry the love of my life tomorrow.

"I'm going home tonight to book a honeymoon for us – I'll tell Vicky where we're going when we get to the airport. I'd been joking I was taking her to Scarborough for the day, but I think she'll know that's not happening now."

Blackburn players weren't the only big winners this weekend. Saturday Street Prizes landed in Southsea and Killingworth, £5,000 Dream Holidays landed in Crook, and Farnborough players won the £5,000 + BMW prize.
