Street Prize
Minted In Irlam
Three neighbours from Carr Road in Irlam have scooped a fantastic £30,000 each in Sunday's Street Prize.
To round off the weekend, their postcode, M44 6GA, was drawn as the winner.
One of the lucky winners was retired Royal Mail worker and lorry driver Philip, who says it's a very nice feeling to win.
He said, "If you're not playing People's Postcode Lottery you're a fool! It's so easy to play, you just sign up with your postcode and sit back and wait to see if you're going to be a winner.
"I'm going to be able to help my son get a car and my wife Ann, who's a retired nurse, is planning to go on a trip to Spain with a group of friends. I'll probably invest the rest of the money. I might even invest it in gold!"
Another winner was Michael, a retired railway worker. Commenting on his fantastic prize, he said, "My wife Angie and I have had a chat about what we might spend the money on and it looks like we'll do a bit of decorating around the house.
"Winning is like a dream and I keep asking myself 'has it really happened to us?'. It's a good feeling and everyone we meet on the street has been congratulating us."
A third £30,000 winner on the street was unavailable to receive their cheque from Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson, but their prize money will be paid directly into the bank account.
Congratulating the winners, Matt said, "We have had an absolutely amazing time in Irlam and we've got some wonderful winners! If you're not playing, what are you waiting for? Maybe we could be knocking on your door!"
To date, over £263 Million has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A local cause that has received support from players is The Lowry Centre Trust. The group was awarded £2,310 last year to improve access to the theatre for families from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Ten lucky neighbours also collected cheques this weekend, after winning Saturday's Street Prize.
