Street Prize
Thrill For Redhill
One Redhill resident is feeling lucky after her postcode, RH1 2BH, was announced as Sunday's Street Prize winner, netting her an incredible £30,000.
Ioana is a ward sister at East Surrey Hospital and nearly collapsed in shock when she realised how much she'd won. She said, "I was so nervous before the People's Postcode Lottery team arrived at my door as I've never won anything before. When I was given the cheque I really couldn't believe my eyes."
Ioana works hard all year round but has never had a proper holiday before, "I've got a big family, including children and grandchildren so I'll definitely be treating us all to a big holiday next year. I've never really been away before so I'd love to go somewhere hot like Turkey.
"I only signed up because of the money that goes towards charities and I wanted to give back to people – winning is just a huge bonus!"
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson handed the cheque to Ioana. Danyl said, "It was a pleasure to speak with Ioana and hand her a cheque for £30,000. I'm delighted she's going to be treating herself to a relaxing holiday – she certainly deserves one!"
32% of the ticket price goes to charities. To date players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised £361 Million for good causes. This prize was part of a draw promoted by Postcode Children Trust.
A number of local Redhill charities have benefited from the funding raised by players, including Rivers Learning Project Community. The charity received £10,000 this year to fund a Women's Centre that will provide support and resources to vulnerable women.
