Street Prize
Thousands Of Pounds For Portsmouth
Paulsgrove Road can be considered the luckiest postcode in Portsmouth this weekend after players there shared a £150,000 win, thanks to People's Postcode Lottery.
PO2 7HP was one of two winning postcodes in Great Britain to pick up People's Postcode Lottery's Saturday Street Prizes today. In Portsmouth, two lucky winners, who each play with two tickets, scooped £50,000, while two neighbours walked away with £25,000 each.
For mother-of-one Paula Doherty, her £25,000 win has come at a wonderful time. "I did not have a clue that I'd won this much," she said. "I'm so delighted."
"We've been saving hard for a deposit for a new house but with things like legal fees to worry about, we were starting to worry about how long it would take," explains Paula. "This will massively accelerate the process – I'll be looking at houses this afternoon!"
With a house move on the horizon, Paula may also be looking at a much-needed break.
"I work in a travel agency, which can be very tempting," she says. "I've noticed there is a Christmas offer to Disneyland Paris. I may need to have another look for my partner and I and our three-year-old little girl."
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson was on hand to present Paula with her cheque. "It was great being in Portsmouth today and meeting the lovely Paula. Winning this money should really speed up the process of moving house for her family and I wish them the very best of luck."
Three other players with the same postcode as Paula, PO2 7HP, also scooped Saturday Street Prizes today. The other winners were not available to receive their cheques, but their winnings will be paid direct into their bank accounts.
Players have raised over £148 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A project near our Portsmouth winners that has received support from players is Hannah's Holiday Home Appeal, which was awarded £2,000 this year for their Outside Fun project.
Paula was one of two Saturday Street Prize winners this weekend. A player in CF10 5FS in Cardiff also landed a £25,000 cheque.
