Sitting Pretty In Sittingbourne
Four Sittingbourne residents are in for an exciting week as their postcode, ME10 2JN, was drawn as Saturday's Street Prize winner. The Charlotte Street neighbours landed a whopping £30,000 each.
Margaret Howard was one of the lucky winners. "I can't believe it! It's my good friend's 65th birthday next year, so we're going to have a trip to New York. We've been friends for decades – she's almost like family – so it's amazing I'll be able to treat her. I'm also just back from a lodge in Somerset with some friends which was fantastic, so the money will go to doing that again next year too."
Lynn Daynes was equally as surprised. "You never think you're going to win! It's fantastic because it's not just about you - my neighbours and friends have won too. It means the world to me."
Maureen Kilgannon is still deliberating over how to spend the cash. "We'd like to go on holiday now we have this money, but I haven't thought about where to. Perhaps we'll get another car too."
There was one other £30,000 winner who was not available to receive their cheque, but their winnings will be transferred directly into their bank account.
Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier said, "I had a fantastic time meeting Margaret, Lynn, and Maureen - I think they were all quite shocked when they saw the cheques. I hope they all enjoy spending their winnings and treat themselves to something special."
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £212 Million for over 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A local cause that has received support from players is Elmley Nature Reserve, which was awarded £1,999 last year to install solar panels, so the facilities are run in an environmentally-friendly way.
Prizes were also won in Elvington, as CT15 4DT was drawn as the winner of Sunday's £30,000 Street Prize.
