Street Prize
Good Turn For Blackburn
One Blackburn resident is celebrating this week after winning £30,000 with People’s Postcode Lottery.
Sean Scholes was delighted when his postcode, BB2 6LJ, was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.
Sean, who works as a bricklayer, said, "I never expected to win this much. I signed up to help charities as well as for a chance to win something."
Although Sean is still a bit shocked, he has a few ideas about how to spend his winnings. "As I'm a builder, I might invest in some property to develop," he said. "I also want to get some friends together for a trip to Spain. I might even save up for New York."
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "I really enjoyed meeting Sean today and surprising him with his cheque. I'm sure he'll have fun spending his winnings."
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes to charities. Players of People's Postcode Lottery have, to date, raised more than £221 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A local cause that has received support from players is Access Ability CIC, which was awarded £2,000 in 2015 for their Walking Project.
