Divine Win For St Minver

12 February - PL27 6PZ - St Minver - £30,000

There's more money in St Minver after one lucky player scooped £30,000, thanks to People's Postcode Lottery.

The Trewiston Lane resident, who plays with postcode PL27 6PZ, was a Street Prize winner today.

Richard Smith was extremely surprised to see the team from People's Postcode Lottery waiting for him as he returned from holiday. "I had literally just returned home from Bali to find the team at my door – they called me while I was away but I thought it was a hoax!" he said.

"I work in the tourist industry so I can only get away in January. I usually spend the year saving up but my win can go straight on the next trip to the Caribbean! The group of friends I was away with have all signed up to play too."

As well as putting the money towards his next trip, Richard has a few other ideas of how to spend the money. "I think I'll take my mum and dad out for a meal to celebrate," he said. "I can also pay off my car and some other debts."

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "Richard was pretty shocked to see me at his door but very happy to receive his £30,000 cheque. I hope he has fun spending his winnings!"

To date, more than £175 Million has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for over 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near St Minver that has received support from players is The Farming & Wildlife Advisory Group Southwest, which was awarded £19,500 last year to create new habitats, help farmers into agri-environment agreements, and improve the understanding of environment issues by local people.

Richard wasn't the only lucky winner this weekend, Cheshunt players also scooped £30,000 per ticket when the first Street Prize landed in EN7 6QH.
