Celebrations In Coventry

It's turned into an egg-ceptional bank holiday weekend for more than 600 People's Postcode Lottery players in Coventry, who have all picked up a share of the £3 Million prize in March's Postcode Millions. Seven lucky Cecily Road residents played with the full winning postcode CV3 5JZ. The happy neighbours claimed the largest shares of the prize money, with each winner pocketing an amazing cheque for £214,285.

The city's 657 lucky players in the winning postcode sector CV3 5 won prize sums ranging from a cash boost of £2,089 up to the incredible £214,285 windfalls.

Taxi-driver Avtar and his wife, who both play People's Postcode Lottery, won a combined total of £428,570, as each of them individually received a cheque for £214,285. Commenting on their win, Avtar said, "We expected a few thousand pounds but it was a real shock to discover just how much we've won – you don't expect that amount of money in a lifetime! The money means we can get someone to decorate our new extension."

Another big winner, Carol, turns 61 on Tuesday and had an early birthday present when she picked up a cheque for £214,285. Along with her wife Amanda, she said, "It's an incredible amount of money to win. It means we can buy a house and move to Spain later this year. I find playing People's Postcode Lottery incredibly worthwhile as you're helping to support a whole host of different charities."

Another lucky winner was retail assistant Ann. Ann said, "I signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery about a year ago. As an animal lover, it was great to know that I was helping support charities close to my heart. I'm going to be able to buy my family home and it's always been my dream to take the whole family on a safari holiday to Kenya – it'll be the trip of a lifetime that's now going to be possible."

The Friday feeling continued, with other players in the winning postcode sector sharing the remaining prize money between them. People's Postcode Lottery Presenters Judie McCourt and Matt Johnson were on hand as winners picked up cheques for sums ranging from £2,089 to £6,267.

This is the second time that the city has been home to a winning Postcode Millions postcode area. To date, lucky players in Coventry have scooped winnings totalling more than £6 Million.

Local projects in and around Coventry have also benefited from the support of People's Postcode Lottery players, including Historic Coventry Trust. The community and volunteer trust, dedicated to restoring and safeguarding Coventry's heritage, received just under £20,000 in funding last year towards their Charterhouse Community Orchard project.
