Big Winners In Windsor

It's a winning weekend in Windsor as six people celebrated scooping a cash prize of £30,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode. The Hanover Way neighbours netted the cash when SL4 5NL was drawn as a winner of Sunday's Street Prize. 

Special Birthday

Winning the windfall was extra special for Sheila, who had just celebrated her birthday the day before the People's Postcode Lottery team came knocking on her door. 

Sheila exclaimed, "Oh my God, I can't believe it! I've got so many thoughts going through my head with what to spend it on but I think I'd like to go on holiday and give a gift to the people who have been helping me out recently.

"It means an awful lot to me, even at my age. My family are treating me to a special birthday lunch but we've got even more to celebrate now!"

Beyond My Wildest Dreams

Army veteran John Victor was taken aback when he saw the five-figure sum on his cheque. He said, "Flippin' heck! I was only expecting £1,000 which I was really excited about because it's not often you get money given to you, so to get £30,000 is beyond my wildest dreams. I'm delighted. 

"There are lots of things that I need that I haven't been able to buy on my pension, like a new laptop and new batteries for my mobility chair. It's great to now be in a position where I can get all those silly little things that will make my life that bit easier."

Making Memories

Linda, a grandmother of four, was joined by her husband Kevin when she pulled her cheque out of her golden envelope. Linda said, "I've watched this happen to other people on the telly and can't believe it's happening to me. It's totally surreal and means I can get a nose job now! I'll also use the money to help my two daughters and our grandchildren out."

Kevin added, "My heart is thumping like mad. It's a life-changing amount of money for us and it's nice to know that we've got the option to do things like take the whole family away for a holiday and make lots of great memories together." 

An Unexpected Boost

Also winning alongside her neighbours was mother-of-four Kelly. She was joined by her husband Richard when she learnt how much she'd scooped. Kelly said, "Wow - I wasn't expecting this at all. With four kids, who are all in their late teens and early twenties, I'm sure there will be no shortage of ideas on how to help me spend it! I think I'll treat us to a holiday and do some bits to the garden so we can get everyone round for a barbeque and open up some bubbles to celebrate!"

While the remaining winners couldn't be there to collect their prizes, the money will be paid directly into their bank accounts. 

Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier was making our special deliveries in Windsor. He said, "It was a privilege to meet all our lucky winners and I was delighted to give Sheila a birthday present to remember. I'm sure they'll have a great time treating themselves with the windfall."

Good Causes Benefit

Players aren't the only ones who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. With 32% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, players have raised over £438 Million for deserving causes to date.

Today's prize was part of a draw promoted by Canal & River Trust, which has received over £6.4 Million thanks to player support. This funding is enabling the charity to care for and transform over 2,000 miles of canals and rivers across England and Wales. 

Sporting Equals is one good cause close to our winners that has been supported by players. Last year, it was awarded £20,000 to help run its Making Equals programme, which brings together over 100 young people from diverse backgrounds, and uses sport to improve community cohesion by breaking down myths, stereotypes and prejudices, as well as giving participants the chance to gain a leadership qualification.
