Sunshine And Success For Barrow-in-Furness

296 Barrow-in-Furness residents are celebrating whopping windfalls thanks to winning with People's Postcode Lottery. Those playing in the postcode sector LA14 4 shared £3 Million in June's Postcode Millions prize.

The full winning postcode, LA14 4JY, scooped four lucky players the biggest prizes of the day - £302,639 each!

The other players in the postcode sector shared the remaining prize money, ranging from £5,734 to £17,202.

Lynda, a retired doctor's receptionist, was one of the neighbours who took home the £302,639 prize. Lynda, joined by her partner Terry at the event, was shocked when the winning postcode was announced. She said, "I couldn't believe it – I was so nervous I wasn't even 100% sure it was my postcode! It's really incredible. It's a lovely community and it’s been fantastic to see everyone winning and celebrating together – everyone has been so kind in congratulating us on the win.

"I have no idea what I'm going to spend the money on yet but I have two children and five grandchildren so they'll all be getting a treat, and I think I'll get myself a new car too."

John also won the £302,639 prize. He said, "This amount is life-changing for me. My wife Denise and I have some good friends in Australia we'd been hoping to visit this year so we'll definitely be doing that now, and I'll love to take the family on holiday too – we have two children and two young grandchildren. Who knows what else we'll do – a cruise around Polynesia has always been a dream for me!

"I signed up to play because I know that local Barrow charities benefit, so it's fantastic that we've got a win here too. It'll make a big difference to the community and to the local economy."

The two other winners in the full postcode weren't available to receive their cheque, but their winnings will be paid directly into their bank account.

All winners were invited to attend a special party in the grounds of Hawcoat Park Sports Club hosted by People's Postcode Lottery Presenters Judie McCourt and Matt Johnson.

Matt said, "What a fantastic day in Barrow-in-Furness! I have loved meeting all the winners and presenting some nice big cheques. I hope they all enjoy spending their winnings – and have a fantastic weekend celebrating!"

With 32% of the ticket price going to charities, players aren't the only ones who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. To date, players have raised £310 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. This prize was part of a draw promoted by charity Unicef UK.

A number of local projects around the postcode area have received support from players of People's Postcode Lottery, including Tigerlily Trust. The group received £15,600 last year for a project providing one-to-one peer support for bereaved parents.
