Loads Of Money For Lower Morton
Three People's Postcode Lottery players in Lower Morton received the surprise of their lives when they discovered that their postcode, BS35 1LD, had landed them £30,000 cheques. Two of our winners, married couple Mark and Wendy, each doubled their prizes to £60,000 as they were playing with two tickets apiece.
Lost For Words
Explaining how she felt when Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson revealed her £60,000 cheque, Wendy said, "For the first time in my entire life I think I'm lost for words.
"It was such a shock - I can't explain it."
Wendy, who co-owns a drain service business with her husband, said, "It's life-changing really. I wasn't expecting this in my wildest dreams."
When asked how the mum-of-eight was going to spend her windfall, she said, "I'm going to buy my parrot, Benson, a new cage. He's going to be singing the [Postcode Lottery] song back to me very soon!"
Wendy went on to explain how the money will go further than just her family. She said, "Our granddaughter has WAGR syndrome, so I'll put some money towards the charities that help her."
Wendy plans to celebrate with her family. She said, "They can all have a bottle of champagne and I'll stick to my pot of tea."
Millions For Good Causes
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Animal Trust (opens in a new tab), which provides regular grant funding to organisations that work to educate, support and promote animal welfare and conservation. Supported charities include Dogs Trust, Riding for the Disabled Association and PDSA.
With 33% of the ticket price going to deserving projects, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised more than £900 Million for over 9,000 charities and good causes across Great Britain as well as internationally.
