Street Prize
Cheers In Clevedon
Seven neighbours in Clevedon are celebrating this weekend as their postcode, BS21 5EH, has won our Saturday #30KADAY Street Prize. Six of the Cherryhay residents landed £30,000 each, while the seventh doubled their prize to £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.
Complete Shock
One of our lucky £30,000 winners, Catherine, was shocked when she found out how much she'd won. She said, "This doesn't happen to the likes of me, I'm in complete and utter shock. Not in a month of Sundays did I expect to win anything, let alone £30,000. The charity I work for as a support worker relies on funding. When I found out that by playing People's Postcode Lottery I would also be supporting charities across Great Britain, I had to sign up.
"My husband and I have been looking for a new house for the past couple of years, so this money is now going to go towards a deposit. I also want to go on holiday to the Caribbean. I've never been before but now I can afford to go.
"I know lightning doesn't always strike twice, but I'm going to keep playing as I want to continue supporting charities and good causes, and if I win again, even better!"
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson was in Clevedon to hand over Catherine's cheque. He said, "What an amazing start to the weekend for our Clevedon winners, especially for our one player who scooped £60,000!
"It's always a pleasure meeting our players and hearing their plans to spend their prizes. I hope Catherine manages to book her dream holiday to the Caribbean and find the perfect home for her and the family. Thanks to players like this, we can continue supporting charities and hand out fantastic prizes to our winners."
Millions For Good Causes
With People's Postcode Lottery, 32% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes. Our players have funded more than 7,500 deserving projects across Britain and around the world. To date, players have raised more than £500 Million for community groups and charitable organisations.
Today's Street Prize is part of a draw promoted by British Red Cross, who help anyone, anywhere in the UK and around the world, get the support they need if crisis strikes. Players have raised more than £5.5 Million for British Red Cross so far. That funding is helping people to withstand emergencies, recover and move on with their lives.
Local charities also benefit from player's support. Age UK Bristol received £20,000 of funding to help expand its Dementia Befriending project. The aim of the programme is to increase social and physical activity of people living with dementia through shared activity including swimming, cycling or walking.
