Newbury Pensioner Scoops £50,000

Also this weekend, a pensioner from Newbury who won a fantastic £50,000 prize, says it's beyond her dreams.

71-year-old Jean Groom's postcode RG14 1NQ in Newbury was drawn as one of this week's Saturday Street Prize winners.

The Saturday Street Prize is worth £25,000 for each winning ticket. Jean plays with two tickets and so doubled her cash prize.

Jean said, "When I saw the cheque, I wanted to cry and laugh all at once. This really is beyond my dreams.

"I have two sons, Danny and Martin, who are so happy for me. Danny lives in Thailand, so I might go out there to visit, but I think I'll treat my two grandchildren to a nice family holiday first. They'd love to go surfing in Cornwall.

"I lost my husband Gerry three years ago, and I recently moved house. I would like a new kitchen and conservatory, so now I'll be able to pay for those things.
