Street Prize
Windfall For Porthcawl
Four Porthcawl residents are celebrating after their postcode, CF36 3HB, won People's Postcode Lottery's Street Prize today. Three of the Victoria Avenue neighbours landed £30,000 each. A fourth, who plays with two tickets, doubled their prize money to a staggering £60,000.
Annmarie Rodgers won a whopping £30,000. Annmarie said, "It was fantastic to win with our neighbours and be able to share the excitement with them. Even people who don't play were out in the street congratulating us. I think my husband Steve and I will go on a couple of holidays with the winnings – we're thinking Thailand and Morocco – and we'll probably get some new furniture for the house. After that we'll just wait and see, but it’s amazing to have won so much."
Andrew Staley plays with two tickets and so landed an amazing £60,000. Andrew said, "I've played with two tickets since we signed up – one for me and one for my wife Anne. It's really paid off now, and also fantastic that so much money from the tickets goes to charity too. We've got two children in their twenties so we'll give them both some money each, and we'll need to have a good think about what to do with the rest."
Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson said, "I love surprising winners with nice big cheques and Andrew and Annmarie couldn't have been happier to see me. I'm so pleased for them."
A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes to charities. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £182 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. A project near today's winners which has received support from players is Manage Money Wales, which was awarded £1,959 last year to run financial literacy courses.
Porthcawl wasn't the only area with big winners this weekend. Lucky players in Patchway also scooped £30,000 per ticket as postcode BS34 5EN was drawn as the Saturday Street Prize winner.
