Big Prizes For Poole
The weekend is off to a fantastic start for eight winners in Poole after their postcode, BH14 0DP, got lucky in today's Street Prize.
Six of the Salisbury Road neighbours netted cheques for £30,000 each. A seventh, who played with two tickets, doubled their prize to £60,000, and an eighth collected an incredible £90,000 as they played with three tickets!
Wish Come True
Among our £30,000 winners was speech and language therapist Sonya. The mum-of-two was joined by her husband Paul when Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson revealed her cheque. She said, "I'm over the moon! Now we can think about what to spend it on." Paul added, "It's all surreal, I was just really shocked as you just don't think it's going to happen to you."
Sonya and Paul's young daughter, Connie, had predicted her parents' lottery win. Sonya said, "She actually wrote it down that we were going to win the Postcode Lottery as a wish, and it came true."
The couple have always wanted to go on a family holiday to Disney World and thought it might be a reality this year. Sonya said, "We haven't ever done a big holiday with the kids."
The pair have also been thinking about an exciting purchase. Sonya said, "We might start looking at campervans. It's something we thought about buying when we get a bit older, and the kids grow up but we've often thought it's a bit out of reach. We could now go out and buy one."
Shellshocked
Thanks to playing with three tickets, lucky Veronica picked up a cheque for £90,000. After finding out the good news, she said, "I'm shellshocked, it's all a bit numb at the moment. That's such a large amount but you don't realise that until you stop and think about it."
The win has come at just the right time for Veronica as she's moving house shortly. She said, "I've just bought a new flat, so this win will give me all the money I need to buy the furniture."
Veronica also plans to help out her son. She said, "My son and his wife got married last year and they need to do their kitchen so I will give them some of it but that's as far as I've thought about it so far."
Unexpected Amount
Neighbour Ian was another £30,000 winner and couldn't believe his eyes when Danyl unveiled his cheque. The moment he saw it, he exclaimed, "Wow! Just wow! I was expecting a lower amount.
"I've been doing nothing but searching on the lottery's website to see how much I might have won after getting the call. I didn't have a clue."
The dad-of-two and his partner Bettina are in the process of buying the house they've been renting and intend to use the money to help with renovations, and to take their children on a weekend getaway. Ian said, "We'll probably take the kids to Disneyland Paris for a couple of days. It'll be great."
Summer Holiday
Carla, who works as a training lead at a disability services and support organisation, was blown away with her £30,000 Street Prize.
When asked how she felt after winning, Carla said, "I was so excited and instantly started thinking about shoes and a nice holiday." Carla's young son, Henry, added, "And a toy for me. A Scorpios Rex."
After treating Henry to that dinosaur toy, Carla has her sights on a pair of designer Louboutin shoes. She said, "It's still not sunk in yet. Maybe once the money is in my account it might feel a bit more real or once the shoes are on my feet."
Carla is now planning a sunny holiday to a destination her son had picked out. She said, "Henry would like to go to Mallorca. He's seen a waterpark and a hotel, so I think that's what we'll be doing this summer."
Upon hearing that seven of her neighbours had also won, Carla said, "I've always worked in the health and social care sector, so anything that kind of goes back into the community for me is really important. This has been the best surprise ever."
Top Priorities
Winner Sharon also bagged a £30,000 prize, and was left shaken by the five-figure sum. She said, "I'm still in shock, I'm shaking inside.
"My mum said we could go somewhere nice to celebrate, but I'd be happy with fish and chips to be honest."
Sharon also joked that her celebrations wouldn't get underway until her springer spaniel had been for a run around. She said, "I've still to take the dog out for a walk and then I might have a glass of champagne - priorities!"
Danyl Johnson was in Poole to deliver our golden envelopes and good news. He said, "I'm absolutely made up for our eight lucky winners in Poole! It was lovely to knock on the lucky winners' doors and hear how the winnings will help with holidays, houses and all sorts.
"I hope all the winners have a great time celebrating the win and spending the cash."
