Wythenshawe Windfalls
A Wythenshawe resident has said his lottery prize win will allow him to finally introduce his two-year-old daughter to his partner's family who live overseas.
Alex was among 11 winners in Wythenshawe who each landed £30,000 prizes with People's Postcode Lottery. Their windfalls come after postcode M22 0DE was announced as our Saturday Street Prize winner today.
Alex was left stunned by the prize. He joked, "My wife still doesn't believe it has actually happened!"
Bringing Families Together
The cash prize was an unexpected bonus for the family, who will be using some of their winnings to arrange a long-awaited family reunion. Alex said, "My partner is Thai and we've got a two-year-old daughter who, because of COVID, hasn't been able to go to Thailand to see my wife's family. My mother-in-law, who lives around the corner, hasn't been able to go visit the family either. We'll all be able to go and the family can meet my daughter! We’d like to go around Easter when Thai New Year is, it's the time of the year when all the wider family get together. It's Songkran which is a Thai Water Festival and that will blow my daughter's mind!"
Alex, who works for a security company, had some other treats in mind for his family. He said, "Hopefully we'll be able to take my daughter to Disneyland at the end of next year and my stepson will want something towards his first car."
When asked if he planned to treat himself, Alex said, "I've been thinking about buying a new mountain bike for myself, so I might get that."
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt sent her congratulations to all of today's winners. Judie said, "I couldn't be happier for our Wythenshawe winners, a massive congratulations to them! I'm sure they'll all be making plans for their winnings already and I hope they have a great time spending the cash."
