Sensational Win In Stoke-on-Trent
An extraordinary 804 People's Postcode Lottery players in Stoke-on-Trent have each landed a share of £3.1 Million after their postcode sector, ST7 8, was announced as the winner of February's Postcode Millions. The biggest prizes were won by those playing with the full winning postcode of ST7 8LR.
The winning postcode was released during a special Facebook Live video.
So Brilliant
Schoolteacher Debby was one of five lucky neighbours who scooped the biggest cheques. She learned of her win while on her lunch break during a video call with People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Danyl Johnson.
As her £310,000 cheque was revealed, Debby screamed and exclaimed, "Goodness me! Oh no! I'm speechless. That is just so brilliant, I can't believe it."
Debby has been working during lockdown at a local school supporting the children of key workers. News of her good fortune spread around the school quickly. She said, "I've got loads of staff who are outside who have obviously heard what's going on, I think they're dying to come in!"
When asked how she might spend her winnings, Debby's thoughts turned to her family. She joked, "I've got such an absolutely brilliant family, so some treats. I think I can go a tenner each!
"My mum has just come out of the hospital as she had to have a pacemaker fitted. Before we went into the last lockdown my mum and dad really wanted a family holiday where we all went away together. We've always done that, but I haven't gone on a holiday with them in some time. We've been looking at going to Croatia in 2022, so I think they'll be wanting me to foot the bill now!"
Debby was thrilled to be winning with her community, and was keen to give back to her local area as well. She said, "It's just brilliant. Where I live, everyone helps one another, they pull together. There's a real community spirit. When all this is over, I know we'll be back out in the front garden and chatting, sitting in the sunshine and having a glass of wine with the neighbours. It's just that lovely, friendly spirit.
"My youngest daughter goes along to a local dance group and they've been absolutely brilliant. They've really struggled. They're in a local church hall and they work so hard. It'd be lovely if I can help them out in some way because they've kept going on via Zoom. Every week they're contacting the children and they're so supportive so it would be great to help them out."
As well as a brand-new kitchen, there was something else that Debby's had her eye on for years: "A convertible, pink Beetle! My favourite car ever has been a Beetle but I have never had one!"
The win comes at an extra-special time for Debby as well. She said, "It was our 28th wedding anniversary on Saturday and my husband got me a lovely pair of earrings and some champagne, and it's still in the fridge! But it won't be tonight!"
Our remaining 799 winners received different cheque amounts depending on how many tickets they play with. 727 players with one ticket won £1,751 each, and 61 winners doubled their prize to £3,502 each since they were playing with two tickets. Eight lucky winners with three tickets tripled their prize to £5,253 each, and three winners with four tickets scooped a fantastic £7,004 each!
After the video call, Danyl Johnson sent his best wishes to all our winners. He said, "It was so lovely to bring Debby this amazing news today, and I can tell it means the world to her. It sounds like she has some great plans and I hope she gets to take that holiday soon!
"It seems like such a friendly community and I'm thrilled for all our winners in Stoke-on-Trent today. I'm sure there will be plenty of celebrations tonight!"

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Support Trust which benefits organisations with regular grant funding that aim to support people in living happy and fulfilled lives. Good causes that benefit from the trust include Crisis, Depaul UK and Missing People.
Local causes have also benefited from player support. Last year Children and Families Staffordshire received £15,461 for a parenting programme designed to provide support for deprived parents in Stoke-on-Trent.
