Golden Win For Gillingham
Five neighbours in Gillingham have got their Thursday off to a winning start thanks to their postcode. Four lucky players picked up cheques for £30,000 each, while the fifth doubled their prize to £60,000 as they play with two tickets.
The players landed the windfall after ME7 5JB was announced as today's Street Prize winner as part of our #30KADAY campaign. Every day in February's draws, one postcode is revealed as a winner, with every ticket in that postcode collecting a fantastic £30,000 cheque.
Players found out how much they'd scooped during video calls with Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier.
Celebrations In Cyprus
Civil servant Serena was on her lunch break when she found out how much she'd won.
Seeing her cheque, Serena burst out laughing and said, "Oh my God, that's amazing. I wasn't expecting thirty thousand pounds!
"I was going to say this has made my day, but it’s made my year actually!"
Serena has been tracing her family tree alongside her mum and recently discovered they have close relatives in Cyprus. Thanks to Serena's win, they'll be able to meet in the sun when restrictions allow.
Serena said, "We've been doing DNA Ancestry and just found out my mum has brothers and sisters in Cyprus that she's never met. We'd love to go over there and now this gives us the opportunity to meet them."
With a daughter and a grandson, Serena added, "I'll be spoiling the family too, there's lots of planning to do and I can't wait to tell them, especially my mum. I've got to tell my husband too actually - he should be up on the list!
"We all need cheering up at the moment and it's going to have a such big impact for me and my family. This kind of thing doesn't normally happen to us!
"I've got to go back to work now, I don’t know how I'll do it. I'm not much of a drinker but I've got a bottle of wine cooling in the fridge and I'll definitely have a glass to celebrate tonight."
After presenting Serena with her prize, Jeff Brazier said, "Wow, what incredible plans Serena has for the money in helping reunite her mum with siblings she's never met before. I'm chuffed for her and her family and hope our other lucky players in Gillingham are just as delighted as she is."
