Street Prize
Marvellous Win In Middleton
Nine Middleton neighbours started their week with an amazing surprise as their postcode, PE32 1SA, has won today's #30KADAY Street Prize. Seven of our winners landed £30,000 each, while an eighth took home £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets. Our ninth winner scooped an incredible £90,000 since they played with three tickets!
Birthday Holiday
Allan and his partner Lynn learned of their win during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt. As Judie revealed a cheque for £30,000, Lynn exclaimed, "Oh my God, wow! That's excellent." The couple were then stunned when Judie unveiled a second cheque for Allan. While laughing he exclaimed, "That's crazy, that's just unbelievable. I just can't get my head around that all!"
Lynn works at a local holiday resort and is hoping to use some of the money to retire next year. She also joked that Allan's winnings could be used for a treat or two. She said, "That will help me to retire when I'm supposed to retire, rather than working on. Then what I'll spend Allan's on is going shopping!" Allan laughed and replied, "I'm just going to buy sweets!"
The couple are also hoping to arrange a special trip. Allan, a local train driver, said, "We were planning to go on holiday but because of COVID we're not going. We'll do something 100%, probably some sort of holiday over here or abroad if we can.
"Looking to next year, we wanted to do something for Lynn's 65th birthday so we might have to have a bigger holiday next year when we're allowed and make it a bit more special." Lynn agreed and added, "We love Mexico so we might go back there."
Home Improvements
Another £30,000 winner was Phillip, who was joined on the call by his wife Carole. On seeing the cheque Phillip laughed as Carole exclaimed, "What? You're joking!" Phillip added, "We'll have to get a bigger letterbox because that's not fitting through the door!"
Phillip, who retired last year, had a few ideas on how he might spend his windfall. He said, "We want to improve the house that we've lived in for 34 years. A new kitchen, new skirting boards and possibly a conservatory."
The couple also added that they'd like to share their good fortune with their son. Carole said, "We may treat our son to a new car because he needs one."
Wonderful Surprise
Neighbour John was left shocked after seeing his £30,000 prize. He said, "Incredible! I can't believe it. I'm gobsmacked, I really don't know what to say. It's a wonderful surprise. I'm trying to stay calm, I've won raffles before but I've never won anything like this."
John, who works for a home-improvement agency, is looking forward to surprising his family with the news. His wife works at the local hospital, and he said, "She works extremely hard, normally we'd look at a holiday but that's not on the table at the moment. I'm sure she'll be as excited as I am.
"I have a lovely granddaughter who's five, I'm sure she'll get spoiled as will my son and his wife."
With eight of his neighbours also winning today's Street Prize, John was thrilled for the community. He said, "The village will be having a party soon, I imagine."
Judie McCourt sent her best wishes to our winners and said, "It was so lovely to bring this surprise to our Middleton winners, congratulations to them all. It sounds like they all have big plans and I hope they enjoy spending their winnings!"
