Party In Plymouth

Champagne corks are popping in Plymouth today after three neighbours scooped £30,000 cheques thanks to playing People's Postcode Lottery. The Blake Gardens residents landed the prize when PL5 3SA was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.

It's Surreal!

Dawn was one of our winners who scooped the incredible lump sum. She said, "It's surreal! When I found out the Postcode Lottery team were coming to visit, I was wondering all day if it was real or not. When they actually appeared all I could think was 'oh my god'!"

Dawn has big plans on how she will spend her winnings, with a trip to New York on the horizon. She said, "I've wanted to visit the big Christmas tree at the Rockafella Centre in New York since I was a little girl and saw it on Home Alone. I am a huge Christmas lover so what better time to go and finally see it in real life?!

"The win has come at a great time, as it's my son Corey's 17th birthday today! I've already bought him some driving lessons but now I can help him buy his first car too."

Giving Back To Charities

When asked why she signed up to play, Dawn said that the biggest reason was giving back to charities. She said, "We do some charity events ourselves, so when I saw that playing gives back, I had to sign up - it's amazing!"

As our other two winners weren't available to receive their cheques in person, their money will be paid directly into their bank accounts.

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson was in Plymouth to meet our winners. He said, "I had a great day meeting Dawn and hearing about how she's going to spend her prize money. Her trip to New York sounds amazing - in fact I'm quite jealous! A huge congratulations to our other Plymouth winners too. I'm sure they will also have some grand plans for spending the cash."

Good Causes Across Britain

Lucky winners aren't the only ones who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. With 32% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, our amazing players have raised over £486 Million to date.

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Neighbourhood Trust that supports locally-based charities and good causes to create, enhance or protect their culture and heritage.

Local projects benefit from player support too, including Cymaz Music. The charity recently received £3,750 to run a singing group for people with chronic lung disorders, with growing evidence showing that singing can improve breathlessness and wellbeing.
