Street Prize
Money For Macclesfield
A trio of Macclesfield neighbours are celebrating this Easter weekend after scooping £30,000 each with People's Postcode Lottery. They each enjoyed a cash windfall when their postcode SK10 3SF was announced as a winner in our Sunday Street Prize.
A Special Time
59-year-old Nick was among our winners. He shared a heartfelt moment with his wife when his £30,000 prize was announced to him on Easter Sunday. The timing of the win was emotional for Nick as it was his late mum's favourite time of year. Wife Michelle said, "Easter is quite special because Nick's mum passed away a couple of years ago and it was her favourite time of year. It's the sentimentality of it. It's really, really special."
Nick suggested his Mum keeps a watchful eye over him. He feels she played a role in this big win. Nick said, "She's done it."
When asked how he was feeling after his cheque was revealed, Nick said, "I'm speechless, for the first time ever... It’s a feeling you get once in your lifetime to win something like this.”
When asked what the couple would spend the money on, Michelle spoke about some travel plans. She said, "I think we're going to spend the money on a holiday. Get on the beach, drink cocktails and just think about what we're going to do with it."
Nick added, "We were saying New York because we missed that for COVID."
Michelle also thought that perhaps the win would help them celebrate Nick's 60th birthday later this year. She said, "Nick's got a big birthday at the end of the year. We might save a bit of money and spend it for your birthday!"
Game, Set And Match
Sheila was another winner thrilled with her prize. Her top idea for spending the money was a dream holiday to watch the US Open Tennis Championships.
Sheila said, "I'm definitely going to have a holiday. I love tennis and I've always wanted to go to the US open. We've done Wimbledon and Paris but I really would like to go to America and watch the tennis. I think I'll put some of it aside and probably head down to the travel agents and see what deal I can get."
Sheila, who works at a nearby secondary school, also jokingly told us about her desire for new curtains.
She laughed, "I desperately need some new curtains for my lounge!"
It's not just Sheila who'll benefit from this windfall. Sheila plans to help her daughter Ellie get onto the property ladder. Sheila said, "It's just Ellie and I so it'll be really nice to help her get a deposit for a house or a flat or something."
Taste Of The Caribbean
Our third winner, Robin wasn't able to join us in person but his wife Karen accepted the cheque on his behalf. Karen said, "It's a nice surprise, we can spend some money for a change!"
Karen also hinted an exotic holiday could be on the cards. She said, "Maybe we'll go to the Caribbean or somewhere, that would be lovely."
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt met the winners and handed over cheques on their doorsteps. She said, "I'm thrilled for our winners in Macclesfield! A big congratulations to them. I'm sure they'll celebrate well tonight and treat themselves to something nice."
Thousands Of Good Causes
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Planet Trust, which provides regular grant funding to organisations that work to protect and promote our environment and wildlife. Supported charities include WWF-UK, Marine Conservation Society and The Wildlife Trusts.
With 33% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised more than £900 Million for over 9,000 projects and groups. Our players are changing lives for the better.
Fantastic Prizes are announced every single day, and it couldn't be easier to take part. If you're not playing yet then check out How It Works, and if you're feeling lucky, sign up to play.
