Payout For Portsmouth

16 April - PO6 4AJ - Portsmouth - £30,000

One lucky player in Portsmouth is celebrating this weekend after scooping £30,000 with postcode PO6 4AJ.

John Morgan couldn't believe it when he was surprised by the People's Postcode Lottery team. "When I found out I'd won something, I thought it was a late April Fools," he said. "My neighbours will be gutted they haven't signed up but my parents and many of my colleagues have now started to play."

John, who works as a fleet standards inspector, knows exactly where the money will go. "We're in the process of re-mortgaging our house, so this win has come at an excellent time," he said. "We want to renovate the house. The plan is to knock through the wall in the kitchen and create a kitchen/diner. Now we've won the money, my wife Nikki is looking into a roof extension!"

As well as house renovations, John is planning to put some cash towards a holiday.  "I would love to book a holiday away, just the two of us. Somewhere in Europe would be good," he said. "I'll also put some money away for the children's futures."

Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson said, "It was a pleasure meeting John in Portsmouth today. As the only winner in the postcode, he had my full attention! I hope he enjoys spending the money and has a nice celebration with his family."

Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £190 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near Portsmouth that has received support from players is Hannah's Holiday Home Appeal, which was awarded £2,000 last year to help reunite families.

There was also a celebration in Peterborough this weekend, as a lucky player in PE3 9QD won a £30,000 prize.
