Sensational Saturday In Sutton Courtenay
Six neighbours from Sutton Courtenay are having a sensational Saturday after finding out that their postcode OX14 4BH was the winner of today's £30,000 Street Prize. Five of the players won £30,000 cheques each while the sixth doubled their money to £60,000 as they play with two tickets.
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt was in Sutton Courtenay to meet our winners.
So Happy
Up first was Margaret, who was joined by her husband David when she found out she'd won £30,000. Margaret, who has multiple sclerosis, put her hand to her mouth in shock when she saw the sum and exclaimed, "Wow!" David was also in disbelief and said, "Is that all ours?!"
Margaret added, "I'm so, so happy with the money. I'm going to spend some of it tomorrow. I'm going to buy a new fridge and a new washing machine!"
David went on to say, "I think they go back to the turn of the century so we're due an upgrade. We'll go and have a nice meal somewhere or a takeaway to celebrate too."
Winter In Dubai
Terence was joined by his wife Joyce when Judie revealed his £30,000 windfall. He said, "What an amazing surprise. I thought it would be £1,000!
"At our age, this will help our children. We've a daughter and three grandchildren, as well as a son in Dubai. Our daughter was saying we should go to Dubai for Christmas, and we didn't think we'd be able to afford it. Now we can!"
Really Chuffed
Grandfather-of-one Sean, who's recovering from a stroke, also won a £30,000 prize. He said, "I'm chuffed, really chuffed. That's a lot more than I thought, I didn't expect that.
"I'll look after my daughter and my granddaughter, and I might have a little holiday to Weymouth.
"I might have a can of beer to celebrate, maybe even two!"
Family Treats
Neighbour Andrew was taken aback at his £30,000 win. As Judie revealed his cheque he exclaimed, "Goodness, gracious me!"
Asked how he'd spend the win, Andrew said, "I'll look after my three daughters and the grandchildren. I might spoil myself and my partner Clare a little bit, too."
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "I've had a lot of fun in Sutton Courtenay knocking on doors, ringing bells and surprising winners with big cheques. It was a pleasure to meet so many winners and hear their plans for the cash!"
