Street Prize
Thrilled In Thornton-Cleveleys
It's a spectacular Sunday for three winners in Thornton-Cleveleys after their postcode, FY5 1RJ, got lucky in today's Street Prize. Two of the Mossom Lane neighbours scooped cheques for £30,000 each, while the third, who plays with three tickets, trebled their prize money to an incredible £90,000!
Doubly Ecstatic
£30,000 winner Pam was joined by her son, Rick, when she found out she'd won during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt.
Pam, a grandmother-of-five who has lived at the winning postcode for 32 years, exclaimed, "Oh fabulous, this is absolutely marvellous! I said to Rick if it was £1,000 then I'd be happy and if it was any more I'd be ecstatic, so I'm doubly ecstatic. I've got a tear. You've made an old girl very happy!"
When asked how she'd spend her windfall, Pam said, "Well, I'm going to have a new roof on my conservatory which I've wanted for a long time and then obviously the children. I've two sons, Rick who had to help me with Zoom, and Phil and then my five lovely grandchildren.
"My husband, Alvah, is in a nursing home as he has dementia so I don't know how I'd survive without my family. They're always there for me."
Pam, a secretary, had to return to work after finding out how much she'd won. She said, "I don't know how I'll do my work now, I'm all fluttery! But I'll be celebrating with a bottle of champagne and a Chinese takeaway tonight - what finer way to do it!"
One of the reasons that Pam signed up to play was because of the support that goes to good causes. She said, "Charities are so important and that's why I do it because everyone wins. They win and now I've won too!"
Dream World
Grandfather-of-two Ken was our lucky triple-ticket winner who scooped a whopping £90,000. He exclaimed, "Good grief, heavens above - that's more than I imagined! My laptop is quivering a bit. That'll do me for Christmas, thank you very much!
"My stomach is all knotted up and I'm in a bit of a dream world. I think it's a bit too early for a drink yet but I'll need to warn the bank!"
Ken, a retired Civil Service worker, plans to share his good fortune with his daughter. He said, "Only last week my daughter Michelle said she needed a new kitchen so that'll be sorted out now.
"It's the sort of thing I never expected to happen but it'll sort Christmas out, too, for my two granddaughters as well."
Judie McCourt said, "It was my absolute pleasure to present Pam and Ken with their cheques and spread a little happiness in Thornton-Cleveleys. Pam is a woman after my own heart celebrating with a glass of something fizzy and a takeaway - I hope she, Ken and our other lucky winner all enjoy putting their prize to good use."
