Hurrah For Hartlepool

Seven Hartlepool winners each welcomed a £30,000 windfall this Wednesday, all thanks to playing People's Postcode Lottery. The lucky seven landed their cheques after their postcode, TS25 2RL, was drawn in today's Street Prize.

Perfect Timing

Hazel was one of our wonderful winners. She was with her husband David when Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt knocked on her door. Hazel exclaimed, "Wow! I can't believe it. Just in time for Christmas! 

"We moved here just over two years ago so it's been lucky for us! I've had a few £10 wins and I was quite happy with that. But this is absolutely amazing. I'm really excited, we just never win anything."

David was quite emotional after seeing the amount written on their cheque. He said, "My goodness, it's an exceptionally good surprise. It's quite something to get your head around. Winning £30,000 is not an everyday occurrence, is it?"

Their People's Postcode Lottery win wasn't the only good news Hazel and David celebrated this week. Hazel explained, "We've 11 great-grandchildren - the youngest was just born two days ago!"

Asked if they'd treat the family with the prize money, David joked, "We'll give them all a Christmas card!"

The couple weren't sure how they'd spend their windfall just yet. Hazel said, "We'll have to have a think about it and see what we want to spend the money on. We'll probably go down to visit my son who lives in Poole, so it'll be nice to see the family down there.

"We'll maybe go out, and take everyone for a meal, including all the great grandchildren, to celebrate too."

David was pleased to have won alongside so many of their neighbours. He said, "It's good to win with the neighbours, they've really welcomed us since we moved. I'm feeling really elated."

Judie McCourt sent her congratulations to all of today's winners. She said, "What a week for Hazel and David - welcoming their eleventh great-grandchild and winning the lottery! I'm over the moon for them and hope our other winners in Hartlepool are just as delighted with their prize."

Charities Win Too

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Education Trust. This trust supports organisations, including AfriKids, War Child and Book Aid International which provide education, particularly in emergency situations, with regular grant funding.
