Street Prize
Delighted In Dinnington
One Dinnington resident welcomed a £30,000 windfall this weekend, thanks to playing People's Postcode Lottery. Retired grandmother Cynthia landed the whopping cheque when her postcode, S25 2PL, was announced as the winner of our Sunday Street Prize.
Cynthia was joined by daughter Sue when her cheque was revealed in a video call with People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt. When they saw how much Cynthia had won, there was screaming and clapping from both.
Upbeat In Lockdown
Cynthia exclaimed, "I can't believe it! 30 grand! Oh I'm excited now! This has given us some excitement during this lockdown hasn't it!"
Cynthia has five granddaughters, and plans to spend most of her winnings on her family. She said, "I won't spend much on myself. I don't really need shiny things at my age. I just want to spend it on the girls. Christmas will come around soon enough!"
Cynthia has been wishing and hoping for a visit from the Postcode Lottery team for a while now. She said, "I can't believe it's me! I saw the advert on TV and kept saying 'come to my house!' I just never expected this in a million years."
While our team sadly couldn't pop in to visit her in person, she was still delighted to win. Cynthia said, "I'm getting tears! I might have a brandy. Actually, there might be a champagne bottle in the kitchen! We'll have a little celebration tonight. Maybe treat ourselves to a Chinese."
Great Help For Good Causes
It's not just our lucky winners who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. 32% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes. Our players have raised more than £500 Million to date, supporting fantastic projects across Great Britain and around the world. That funding makes a difference every single day.
Cynthia summed it up, "It goes to good causes and charities. One good turn deserves another."
This prize was part of a draw promoted on behalf of Cats Protection. This deserving cause has received more than £2.2 Million in funding thanks to our players. Cats Protection is working towards a vision of a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs. Funding from our players is currently helping to cover the costs of looking after cats while they wait to find new homes, and is supporting the charity's important advocacy work.
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt said, "I'm sending all of my love and congratulations to Cynthia. It was lovely to virtually meet her, and it sounds like she's going to be very generous with her prize money. I hope she still treats herself to something nice though!"
