Terrific Win For Tamworth
Three Tamworth residents have got the year off to a great start after scooping £30,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode!
The Highcliffe Road winners, who play with the postcode B77 1EE, have won the first Street Prize of 2017 today.
The lucky Tamworth players were the first recipients of 2017's bigger Street Prizes, which are now worth a fantastic £30,000 for every ticket in the postcode.
Bank worker Lisa Sperry says she'll never forget the moment she was presented with the winning cheque on her doorstep.
"In all the excitement my door got pulled over and I got locked out of the house! In any other circumstances I would have been quite annoyed, but I'd just received a cheque for £30,000 so it was fine. I had to go to my husband's work and get his key, but at least I got to pass on the good news to him in person."
Lisa is looking forward to spending her winnings on a romantic break with her husband Paul.
"Our ten-year anniversary is coming up and we're going to go to Mexico, which is where we went on honeymoon. We haven't been back there since then and I really can't wait. This time around we'll be able to afford to do lots of excursions and explore the area more."
Another £30,000 winner on the street is Valerie Hilton, who has lots of plans for her winnings.
She said, "I've got a son in Australia who I'll be able to visit again soon thanks to winning this money. My husband Derek needs a new mobility chair and my friend of fifty years, Kathleen McCoy, will be getting a share of this win too."
The third winner on Highcliffe Road is 50-year-old Carol Cross, who was equally delighted with her £30,000 win.
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "Playing People's Postcode Lottery helps so many charities, which is a great reason to play, and of course you could win. With prizes every day, we could be visiting your postcode very soon."
More than £168 Million to date has been raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery for over 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A project near Tamworth that has received support from players is the Heart of Tamworth Community Project, which was awarded £20,000 in 2015 to help tackle health inequalities in the area.
There were also celebrations in Stockport this weekend, as players in postcode SK3 9EN scooped £30,000 for each ticket they play with.
