Street Prize
Fairytale In Rochdale
There are champagne corks popping in Rochdale this weekend as one resident celebrates winning an incredible £30,000.
Lucky player Carolyn scooped the cash after her postcode, OL11 5TA, was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.
She was stunned to discover how much she'd won when her cheque was pulled out of the golden envelope, "This is absolutely amazing and very surreal. I feel like I'm just floating on air at the moment. I'm definitely going to book a holiday to the Maldives as it's somewhere I've always wanted to go - it's going to be amazing to treat myself and my partner Tony to the trip of a lifetime!
"My son is also graduating from university in Edinburgh in a few weeks' time, so now we'll be having a double celebration!"
As well as treating herself to a well-deserved holiday, Carolyn plans to expand her business with the cash windfall. She added, "I opened up a shop in Rochdale called Pookys a few months ago so this win means I'll be able to launch a website now and has come at a really good time."
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt handed Carolyn her cheque and offered her congratulations, "I've had an absolute blast in Rochdale and I'm totally thrilled for Carolyn. For just £10 a month you too could also be getting a big cheque in a golden envelope from me - so make sure you're playing!"
32% of the ticket price goes to charity and players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised more than £301 Million for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally. This Sunday's Street Prize was promoted by Depaul UK.
Link4Life is one good cause close to our winner that's received funding from players. The group was awarded £16,500 last year to provide local young people with the opportunity to gain an accredited sports leader award and deliver coaching in the community.
