Elation In Irchester

It's a wonderful weekend for Irchester after two lucky neighbours have netted amazing £30,000 prizes.

The winners in Redwood Close landed the prize after their postcode, NN29 7BX, was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.

Winner Jane was in shock when she received her cheque. She said, "I feel like I'm in a dream and haven't been able to take it all in. Both myself and my husband, Garry, are just elated!"

Jane signed up to play on the advice of a good friend. "After seeing the adverts and speaking with a friend, it seemed like the chance of winning with People's Postcode Lottery, even just a small prize, was good - so I thought I'd give it a try!"

The mother of two said the prize couldn't have come at a better time. Now, she doesn't need to choose between some essential home improvements and enjoying a family holiday.

"My sons are 18 and 20 and they haven't been abroad since they were toddlers, so I was feeling very guilty about converting our garage and getting a new bathroom but now we will be able to do both."

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson handed Jane her cheque and offered his congratulations. He said, "I've had a brilliant time in Irchester and I'm absolutely thrilled for both our winners. Make sure you're signed up to play!"

With a minimum of 32% of the ticket price going to charity, players of People's Postcode Lottery have now raised £282 Million for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

Northamptonshire Carers is one of the charities local to the winning postcode that players have helped support. The group was awarded £19,899 last year. This funding was used to raise awareness of the support which carers of those with long-term illness and disabilities can receive in their workplaces. 

The two Irchester winners weren't the only pair receiving life-changing cheques this weekend. Two lucky residents in another postcode also celebrated winning Sunday's Street Prize.
