Tidy Sum For Gildersome
Three neighbours from Gildersome are celebrating after winning £25,000 each today.
The trio from Scott Green Drive scooped one of this weekend's two Saturday Street Prizes today after their postcode LS27 7DA was drawn as a winner.
Commenting on her fantastic win, retired office worker Susan Evans said, "I was so surprised when I opened the envelope and saw the cheque for £25,000 because I've never won anything like this before.
"I've been retired for almost a year and I want to make this money last so I'll add it to my pension pot. It's a big help to me to win People's Postcode Lottery. I'd definitely recommend signing up to play."
John Ackroyd, another £25,000 winner, said, "When I realised what I'd won I had to sit down for a minute and take it in!
"My wife Val and I will have a good think about what to do with the money, but it means we can take a holiday whenever we want without having to wait and save up."
The other £25,000 winner was unavailable to receive their cheque, but their winnings will be deposited directly into their bank account.
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt said, "Well done to all our winners in Gildersome. What a lovely sum of money to win. Players like John and Susan are making a huge difference to charities around the country and so we thank them for that."
Over £135 Million has been raised to date by players for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A project that players have supported near Gildersome is Place2Be, which received £100,000 last year for a project to provide school-based mental health support.
There were also celebrations in Borehamwood this weekend, as the other Saturday Street Prize landed in WD6 1TL.
