Street Prize
Happy Times For Hednesford
Eight lucky residents of Hednesford in Staffordshire have struck it lucky this weekend, as our Saturday Street Prize has landed there. Every ticket in postcode WS12 4BY has won a whopping £25,000.
People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt visited Mount Street to deliver the winners cheques in person, and they were overjoyed with their wins.
Dog lover Lynne Hodgkins was delighted when she found out she had won. She said, "I just cannot believe I have won! Things like this don't happen to people like me. I have been playing People's Postcode Lottery for over a year now, primarily because I know the money goes to good causes and charities. But now I am a winner too and I just can't believe it!
Retired charity fundraiser and keen gardener Michael Wallace added, "I have been a player for less than eight weeks, so to find out I have won £25,000 so soon is fantastic. I have a large family of 22 who are all delighted for me."
Budding amateur photographer Andrew Matthews has been a player for a couple of years and having already won £10 last year, he couldn't believe his luck again.
Steve Evans, who is self-employed and formerly of First Battalion Queen's Company, and who also won £10 in a draw three months ago, added, "It has always been the charity element that has drawn me to play People's Postcode Lottery. This has to be the most exciting thing to happen to our street in a long time – everyone is over the moon!"
As a charity lottery, players have raised over £99.6 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. Local charities in the area that have benefitted from funding include Burntwood Pheonix, Girlguiding – Beaudesert District, Manor Farm Community Association and the Walsall Street Teams.
