Helping Children Out Of Poverty

A CHARITY working to combat child poverty in London says new funding raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery will allow them to reach even more youngsters in need.

The Childhood Trust has been awarded £600,000 from players to help reduce the impact of poverty on children and young people in London.

The charity says one in three children currently live below the poverty line in the city.

Tara MacDowel, Head of Philanthropy at The Childhood Trust, said: "We are thrilled to have been awarded this funding due to the generosity of the players of People's Postcode Lottery.

"With their support, we are able to continue our mission to alleviate the effects of poverty for the 700,000 children living below the breadline in London.

"This funding allows us to reach more children in need, providing crucial resources and services to help break the cycle of poverty and offer children a brighter, more hopeful future."

The Childhood Trust partners with a network of 135 voluntary organisations working across all London boroughs, helping around 390,000 children annually, providing support including nutritious meals, social, physical and creative activities, therapies, education and mentoring.

Since the charity was first set up in 2013, it has supported more than 1,000 projects and helped over a million children.
