Postcode Millions
Big Reveal In East Riding
A total of 792 people in East Riding are celebrating after their postcode sector, YO25 4, won them a share of a £3.2 Million prize in our July Postcode Millions today.
Fourteen neighbours each pocketed a cheque for £100,000 and another neighbour, who plays with two tickets, scooped £200,000 when YO25 4RR was revealed on Facebook (opens in a new tab) as the full winning postcode.
This is the second time the East Riding postcode area has won our multi-million-pound prize. In June 2019, £3 Million was shared between 338 residents when YO25 4 was announced as a winner.
Our £100,000 winners include:
- Sally, a grandmother-of-eight and an NHS nursing sister
- Stephen, who moved house but kept playing with his original 'lucky' postcode after winning over £4,000 in 2019
- Elizabeth, who also won our Lottery back in 2019
- Brenda, a grandmother who moved to the postcode with her family in December
Dreaming Big
Sally said, "I can't believe it. I didn't dream as big as £100,000.
"You just don't think it'll be you and it's happened twice."
Sally's husband Dougie said, "She really deserves it, she's had a really tough couple of years working as a Sister on a COVID ward.
Sally said, "It has been very hard over the last few years but I'm incredibly proud of my hard-working team who have been nominated for a Golden Hearts Award by the NHS Trust.
"After all that's happened, this is just amazing. I'm going to buy a faster car for starters and buy a new settee.
"I bought a hot tub after I won in 2019 and I'm going to treat my grandkids and my dogs Mollie and Dollie."
Lucky Postcode
Stephen said, "I can't believe this is real.
"We won over £4,000 a few years ago. Although we've moved house since then, we kept playing with our old postcode as we thought it might be lucky, but we didn't think it would be this lucky.
"We're currently renovating our house, and this will go a long way, but we'll also book a holiday. I'd love to go back to Australia because I lived there when I was younger."
Stephen's wife Kelly said, "You know when people say it's life-changing, this is actually life-changing for us.
"I'm a student nurse and we only have one wage coming in, so this is absolutely amazing."
Lightning Strikes Twice
Elizabeth said, "I can't believe this has happened again!
"We won £4,254 in 2019 and kept playing because we liked supporting the charities, but we never thought we'd win again.
"Stuart and I have been married for 40 years this year, so this has been an exciting year already. This is just the icing on the cake.
"We're just back from a holiday in Lanzarote but we'll definitely take the family away, and I've always wanted to visit New York City and Las Vegas.
"Lightning really can strike twice!"
Incredible Win
Brenda said, "Oh my giddy aunt!
"We only moved to this house in December. I can't believe we've won - this is incredible.
"I think I'll book a trip to Kenya with the family, and I might get a new car, but I really can't imagine what having this amount of money will be like. I can even afford to get a cleaner now.
"I signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery because of all the great Charities that are funded. I especially like that WaterAid is supported. I believe that everyone is entitled to good, clean, safe water. We're very lucky in this country."
Other people picking up a £100,000 cheque included Liam, who intends to buy a house with his windfall.
A Win For The Community
The remaining 777 residents in the sector received cheques ranging from £1,779 to £7,116 depending on how many tickets they played with.
People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt said, "It's been absolutely fantastic meeting some of our winners today in East Riding. I loved seeing their reactions and I'm sure they'll have a weekend of celebrations.
"A massive congratulations and I hope they enjoy spending the money."
Millions For Good Causes
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Children Trust (opens in a new tab), which funds charities that inspire and support children and young people to make the most of their lives and opportunities within their communities. Organisations that benefit include Young Lives vs Cancer, Magic Breakfast, and Whizz-Kidz.
Local good causes have also benefited. Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust is a small charity that supports people, landscape and wildlife across the Yorkshire Dales. Thanks to People's Postcode Lottery players it has received over £3.2 Million in funding.
With People's Postcode Lottery, 33% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes. To date, players have raised more than £900 Million for over 9,000 deserving projects across Great Britain as well as internationally.
