Winners Make Hay In Thatcham

Six neighbours from Thatcham have scooped £30,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode. The Barfield Road winners, who play with the postcode RG18 3BL, won the Street Prize today.

Heather Hopkin says she's planning a special birthday celebration later this year with her winnings. "I'm turning 70 this year and it'll be nice to get the whole family together to celebrate. Now I can afford to pay for everyone to go out for a meal.

"I'm still getting over the shock of winning. I'm retired now and there's nothing that I need, but it's lovely to know that there's money there if I want to do something."

Another £30,000 winner on the street is Barbara Currie, who plans to help out her two children. "My son is getting married this year and moving house, so we'll be able to help him with that. Our daughter will also get the same amount of help," Barbara said. "Winning £30,000 is more than I expected and it's nice to know we weren't the only winners on the street."

Lynda Selby was also thrilled to win. "Me and my husband Malcolm love going to America and we'll definitely plan a trip to San Francisco and Las Vegas with our windfall.

"I am so pleased to have won this money. My dad was convinced he was going to win the lottery and he never did, so I signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery and now I can't believe I'm a winner!"

Beryl Hutchins was equally delighted with her £30,000 win.

Unfortunately, the two other winners on the street were unavailable to receive their cheques, but their winnings will be paid directly into their bank accounts_._

To date, more than £168 Million has been raised by players for over 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near Thatcham that has received support from players is The Conservation Volunteers, which was awarded more than £15,600 last year to plant flowers along the Kennet and Avon Canal.

There were also some lucky £30,000 winners this weekend in South Nutfield, as the second Street Prize landed in RH1 4JP.
