Hooray For Hullbridge

Two lucky neighbours from Hullbridge have struck it rich today, all thanks to their postcode. Each of our winners picked up a £30,000 prize after their postcode, SS5 6PG, was drawn in our Saturday Street Prize. 

One of our winners, Susan, found out how much she'd won during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier.

Shell Shocked

On seeing her cheque, Susan exclaimed, "Oh wow, thirty thousand pounds! That's brilliant, thank you so much. I've never won anything like this in my life ever. I'm a bit shell shocked seeing the cheque come out of that envelope. I just can't believe it - if I hadn't seen Jeff then I wouldn't have believed it!"

Susan, a retired administrator, already has a few ideas for her winnings. She said, "I was going to just paint the doors on my kitchen but I can have a new one now, and a split-level oven! A holiday might be nice too at some point, somewhere like Dorset.

"This can do so much for me. It'll be wonderful to not have to check first if I want to buy something, I can just go ahead and get it. My two sons will be over the moon for me and I'm sure my grandchildren will tell me what they'd like!"

For the last two years Susan has been volunteering as a befriender in her spare time, and the support that goes to good causes is one reason she plays People's Postcode Lottery. She said, "I do charity work and have four ladies that I usually visit but just now I ring them every week. We have a laugh which is the most important thing. I can't wait to tell them what's happened, they'll be very excited for me. 

"It's nice to do things for other people so it's good to know support is going somewhere it's needed and helping people in need of it."

After the call Jeff Brazier said, "What a pleasure to be able to deliver some good news and a nice big cheque to such a lovely winner like Susan! I'm sure our other lucky player will be just as thrilled as she is with the prize - congratulations Hullbridge."
