Street Prize
Happy In Hadlow
This week is off to a winning start for four players in Hadlow after their postcode, TN11 0RT, got lucky in today's #30KADAY Street Prize. Three of the neighbours netted cheques for £30,000 each, while the fourth doubled their windfall to £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.
This prize is part of our special #30KADAY October campaign where one postcode is announced as a £30,000 prize winner every day. All the players in that postcode pick up £30,000 for every ticket they hold!
Going For Gold
Joycelyn, a retired nurse, discovered how much she'd won during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt. When her £30,000 cheque was pulled from the golden envelope Joycelyn gasped and said, "Wow! Oh my goodness, that's really fantastic. I can't believe it. This is a new thing for me - I've never won anything before!"
Asked what she'll do with her windfall Joycelyn replied, "Oh I'll be going to the Caribbean, to a little island called Montserrat, which is where I was born, and I'll be visiting family and friends."
Joycelyn plans to return to Montserrat with Stafford, her husband, to coincide with a very special anniversary. She said, "It's our 50th wedding anniversary next year and we got married there, so it will be a great opportunity to go back and celebrate our golden wedding anniversary in style."
The grandmother-of-four also plans to have a big family celebration when it's safe to do so. Joycelyn said, "I'll take my three children and grandchildren out for a meal. We're a very close family and FaceTime every day. I can't wait to tell my children - I don't think they'll believe me!
"Other than my holiday and taking the family for a meal, I'll need to think about how I'll spend it. But I'm sure I'll put it to good use. It's a tremendous boost to my bank account that I never envisaged, so I'm very happy and excited about it!"
Joycelyn, who has previously volunteered for a foodbank, and more recently set up a foodbank collection through her church, signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery because of the money that goes to good causes. She said, "That's why I did it - it's good to support good causes. I'll continue playing so I'll still be supporting them."
Sending her congratulations was Judie McCourt. She exclaimed, "What a way to start the week for Joycelyn and our other lucky players in Hadlow!
"I'm delighted that Joycelyn and Stafford received a big golden envelope just in time to help them both celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in style. I hope the other winners will be able to treat themselves to something special with their windfall."
Good Causes Around The World
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Theirworld, which has received more than £6.6 Million thanks to player support. This funding is helping it to ensure that every child around the world has the best start in life, a safe place to learn and skills for the future.
Local charities close to the winners have also benefited from player support, including The Anne Robson Trust. Earlier this year it was awarded £12,000 for its Butterfly service which provides support and companionship to dying hospital patients, many of whom are alone.
With 32% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £600 Million for over 8,500 deserving causes and projects across Great Britain and around the world. Our players are making a difference every day for a wide range of amazing organisations.
With fabulous Prizes announced every single day, it's a great time to become a People's Postcode Lottery player. Take a look at How It Works and, if you're feeling lucky, sign up to play.
