Congratulations Portishead

Welcome to the first week of our #30KADAY Street Prize festivities! Each day in January's draws, right up until 5th February 2021, every player in a winning postcode scoops a £30,000 cheque for each ticket they play with.

Five Portishead neighbours have started the week on a high after scooping a cash prize of £30,000 each thanks to their postcode. The windfall comes after BS20 8HT was announced as a winner of today's Street Prize.

Champagne Over Zoom

One of our winners was Phil, who learned of his win on a video call with Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson. Phil, an electronic engineer, gasped as his cheque was revealed. He exclaimed, "Wow! Brilliant!" He was joined on the call by his wife Catherine who clapped with joy and said, "That's amazing! We never win anything. Oh my word. That is a good start to the new year."

After the initial shock had passed, the couple had a few ideas on how to spend their winnings. Catherine, who works as a piano teacher, said, "We're just getting in to boating. When allowed, maybe a nice sailing trip somewhere. We might give a little bit to the kids and we'll do something nice for us."

But the parents-of-three plan to celebrate a little closer to home first. Phil said, "We'll have a really nice takeaway. The best takeaway you can get. We can't go out to celebrate so we'll get a really nice pizza!"

The pair can't wait to share the news. When asked who'd they tell first Catherine replied, "The children, I think. Definitely family first, we'll have to have champagne over Zoom!"

After the video call Danyl Johnson sent his congratulations to the winners. He said, "I am so pleased to bring this great news to Phil and Catherine. This really is a fantastic way to start the year and I can tell it means so much to them! Congratulations to them both and all our other winners in Portishead."
