Street Prize
Whoopee For West Dulwich
Two neighbours in West Dulwich are having a weekend to remember after each winning a whopping £30,000 with their postcode. They netted their cash prizes after SE21 8HY was chosen as today's Street Prize winner.
Charitable Plans
Former basketball national champion Ruth was absolutely elated with her win. As Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson revealed her cheque, she gasped and exclaimed, "Wow! That's fantastic, absolutely awesome."
When we asked how Ruth would spend her windfall, she mentioned a special trip for her mum. She said, "I'd love to do something special for my mum. She's 80 and hasn't been home to Switzerland for 15 years. I'll get her a beautiful hotel in the mountains and enjoy it with her."
Ruth went on to talk about her charitable plans. She said, "My dream is to open up a charity. I've done lots of charity work in the past and with everything that's going on in the current climate, there are things I would like to do. This will help me start that up."
Ruth's ideas are in their early stages, but she plans to help local young and vulnerable people living in poverty. She said, "I love making a difference."
Ruth has helped considerably at her local basketball club, Brixton Topcats, which helps young people aged 5-19 to have positive physical activity. She said, "I played basketball myself when I was very young. I used to play for England, all over the world. We also won the national championships, with Thames Valley against Sheffield."
Ruth spoke about celebrating with a meal out that evening. She said, "We'll go down to Dulwich village and have a nice dinner. My son keeps Nando's in business so we might go down to Nando's!"
Danyl Johnson wished both our winners all the best. He said, "I'm thrilled for all of our winners in West Dulwich, a big congrats to each of them. I hope they celebrate tonight and enjoy spending the money."
