Science Museum Group
The Science Museum Group aims to create new projects which will inspire the next generation of scientists and bring exciting and contemporary science events and exhibitions to the public.
This institution originated in 1851 and is dedicated to the history and practice of science, medicine, technology, industry and media.
The Science Museum group consists of five museums:
- Science Museum (London)
- Museum of Science and Industry (Manchester)
- National Railway Museum (York)
- National Media Museum (Bradford)
- National Railway Museum, Locomotion (Shildon)
The Science Museum Group is the most significant group of science and innovation museums worldwide and has five million visitors each year.
Ian Blatchford, Director of the Science Museum Group, said, "Regular donor income plays a crucial role in helping the Science Museum Group to inspire visitors about the central role science plays in all of our lives. We are very grateful to players of People's Postcode Lottery for their support, which will make an important contribution to our future exhibitions programme at the Science Museum."
Over the coming years, The Science Museum Group aims to deliver a Masterplan which will guide the creation of dramatic new galleries, learning zones, new public spaces and visitor facilities, in order to create a new museum experience.
