Plan International UK
Plan International UK is a children's charity that strives to advance children's rights and equality for girls all over the world.
For the past 80 years, Plan International UK has been working to transform the lives of children and their families living in 54 of the world's poorest countries, helping them move from a life of poverty to opportunity.
There are over 400 million children living in extreme poverty in the world today, and it's girls who are most affected.
Right now:
- 62 million girls are not in school due to discrimination.
- 200 million girls and women have undergone Female Genital Mutilation.
- Every day 41,000 girls are married before their 18th birthday.
Plan International works with communities – with a particular focus on reaching girls – to ensure children can go to school. The charity also works for these children to have access to clean water, stay healthy and protected, and grow up in an environment where they have a voice and are supported to make a safe and secure living as they get older. Plan International UK is also there during times of emergency to provide immediate life-saving assistance, and to support communities in longer-term recovery.
